Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got interested in AI art?

My name is Alex, an artist living in the futuristic city of Dubai. While I've been into art for a long time, I recently started sharing my creations online a few months ago. My journey with art has been a lifelong passion. I've always loved mixing traditional techniques with modern ideas.

What got me really excited was the world of AI art. It's like adding a touch of magic to my creativity. I became curious about how artificial intelligence could bring something new and exciting to my artwork. So, I decided to combine my deep love for art with the possibilities of AI.

My art blends Arab heritage with a futuristic twist. It's like a manifesto, showing the beauty of where I live and where I believe we're heading. The fusion of these elements is what makes my art unique. It's like telling a story of tradition and innovation coming together. Through my art and AI, I'm painting a artworks of the future that's both modern and deeply rooted in my culture.

But wait, there's more! I don't just stick to AI art. I also create physical installations and sculptures. These let me take my ideas off the screen and into the real world, making my artistic journey even more diverse and exciting.

Who or what are your artistic inspirations, and how do they influence your work?

My inspiration comes from a blend of two wonderful things: the rich Arabic culture and a touch of modern and futuristic vibes. The Arab culture and its people hold a special place in my heart, and they play a big role in shaping my art.

I'm drawn to the beauty of our Arabic heritage, the stories it holds, and the traditions that have been passed down through generations. This influence can be seen in the patterns, colors, and symbols I use in my work.

At the same time, I'm excited about what the future holds. I love imagining how technology and modern ideas can mix with our traditions. This creates a unique energy that you can find in my art.

So, when you look at my creations, you'll see a blend of the old and the new, a mix of our noble Arab heritage with a fresh and exciting twist. It's my way of celebrating where we come from while embracing the amazing journey into the future.

How do you approach the creative process when working with AI?

When I create art using AI, my approach involves a mix of inspiration and technology. The process might seem a bit long, but it's quite exciting and rewarding. Here's how I go about it:

  • Exploring and Gathering Inspiration: I start by walking around Dubai and even traveling to places like Riyadh to find inspiration. Seeing new places and experiencing different cultures helps me gather ideas for my artwork. It's like collecting puzzle pieces.

  • Imagining Colors and Concepts: After gathering inspiration, I spend time imagining colors, shapes, and concepts that I want to include in my art. This is where the creative part begins, as I start envisioning how different elements will come together.

  • Creating the Artwork: Then comes the creation stage. I sit down for hours to bring my vision to life. Using AI tools, I blend traditional art techniques with modern technology. This is where the magic happens as I merge the beauty of the past with the possibilities of the future.

  • Post-Processing and Refinement: Once the artwork is complete, there's a bit of fine-tuning to do. I sometimes use tools like Photoshop or After Effects to enhance the final result. It's like adding the finishing touches to make the artwork shine. When it comes to overcoming creative blocks, it's not much different from traditional art. Sometimes ideas flow effortlessly, and other times there might be challenges. What helps me is taking breaks, going back to my inspiration, and even seeking feedback from friends or fellow artists. It's all about finding ways to reignite the creative spark.

This process, while influenced by AI, still involves a deep connection to my surroundings, imagination, and artistic skills. It's a fusion of the digital and the real, and it's what makes each piece unique and meaningful.

Can you share a specific moment that transformed your perspective on AI art?

Certainly! One of the most memorable and challenging moments in my AI art journey was when one of my artworks unexpectedly went viral. It was a moment that truly transformed my perspective on the power of AI art and its impact on a global scale.

I remember the excitement of sharing my creation online, hoping that it would resonate with a few people. But then, something incredible happened – the artwork started spreading like wildfire. Before I knew it, my inbox was flooded with messages, and I received around 60 collaboration requests from various artists, creators, and even brands.

At first, it felt overwhelming to handle such a sudden surge of attention. I had to navigate through the messages, process the requests, and consider how each collaboration could align with my artistic vision. It was a bit of a roller coaster ride, as I needed to make decisions that would shape the direction of my art.

This experience challenged me to think more deeply about the potential of AI art and how it could connect people from all corners of the world. It highlighted the importance of maintaining my artistic integrity while exploring exciting collaborative opportunities.

Looking back, that moment opened my eyes to the vast reach and possibilities that AI-powered art can offer. It taught me that a single piece of art has the power to spark conversations, forge connections, and even lead to unexpected creative partnerships. It was a turning point that encouraged me to continue pushing the boundaries of my art and embracing the dynamic world of AI.

How do you balance your work in AI art with other professional or personal pursuits?

Being a full-time mother and juggling roles as an AI artist and physical artist can be a real balancing act. After work, I focus on my baby, spending quality time. Once my little one is settled, I get back to my laptop for more art. It's a challenge to find time, and sometimes I work late into the night. But I know this pace isn't sustainable forever. I'm doing my best to manage it all while keeping in mind that taking care of myself is just as important. It's about finding a rhythm that works for now and making sure I have moments to recharge.

Staying organized is my key to balancing personal life and art. I plan my day ahead, dividing time for art, family, and chores. Flexibility helps if plans change. I take short breaks to recharge, and my partner shares chores, making things smoother. I value quality time with my easygoing baby. Celebrating small wins and knowing when to say no keeps me on track. I regularly adjust my approach to stay balanced. Remember, everyone's situation is different, so find your own rhythm that works best for you.

How has working with AI in art influenced your mental and emotional wellbeing?

Working with AI in art has been a mix of positive feelings for me. I'm really proud of what I've achieved in just a few months. It's amazing that I'm collaborating with big brands from around the world, not just in the Middle East.

But I won't lie, it's not all easy. I'm a perfectionist, and that can sometimes make things stressful. I have around 30 ongoing projects, and managing them all can be overwhelming at times. Finding that balance between pushing for excellence and not overworking myself is a challenge.

Overall, though, the journey has been rewarding. The process of creating with AI can be therapeutic and exciting. It's like exploring a new world of possibilities. It's given me a way to express my creativity in a unique way. I'm learning to manage the stress and embrace the joy that comes with this new adventure in AI art.

In your opinion, how does AI redefine the concept of creativity and artistic agency, and how do you see it impacting the future of art?

Absolutely, AI is reshaping how we think about creativity and artistic expression. It's like a new color on the artist's palette, adding a whole new dimension to the creative process. AI can generate ideas, textures, and forms that a human might never have imagined on their own. This collaboration between human imagination and machine intelligence is redefining what it means to create.

In terms of artistic agency, AI offers artists like me a way to expand our horizons. It's not about the machine taking over, but rather about artists using AI as a tool to amplify their own creativity. We guide the process, infusing our unique styles and visions into the AI-generated elements. This partnership allows us to delve into uncharted territories and create art that's a blend of our individuality and the limitless possibilities AI offers.

The future of art is undoubtedly influenced by AI. It opens up avenues for innovation and experimentation, allowing artists to explore new techniques and concepts. As AI continues to evolve, it will become an integral part of the art landscape. For me, this means embracing the future while staying true to my unique style. Clients value my artistic sensibilities, and I believe that as AI becomes more prevalent, my ability to infuse it with my distinctive creative perspective will set me apart even more. It's an exciting journey of growth, exploration, and staying at the forefront of the artistic evolution that AI brings.

What role do you think AI art can play in highlighting social issues, and have you incorporated any such themes in your work?

AI art has the potential to be a powerful tool for highlighting social issues in a unique and impactful way. It can help bring attention to important topics, spark conversations, and evoke emotions in viewers. Just like traditional art, AI-generated pieces can serve as a mirror to society, reflecting its challenges, hopes, and complexities.

In my own work, I've been passionate about incorporating themes related to social issues. By blending AI technology with my artistic perspective, I aim to create art that resonates with people and prompts them to think about the world around them. Whether it's addressing environmental concerns, cultural diversity, or societal inequalities, AI art allows me to approach these topics from fresh angles.

For instance, I might use AI-generated elements to symbolize the impact of technology on our environment or explore how traditional values interact with modern innovations. These creative expressions provide a unique lens through which viewers can engage with important social matters, encouraging them to consider different viewpoints and contemplate potential solutions.

Overall, AI art has the potential to be a powerful catalyst for raising awareness and fostering empathy around social issues. It allows artists like me to contribute to meaningful conversations and contribute to positive change through the universal language of art.

If you could collaborate with any artist, living or not, who would it be and why?

If I had the chance, I'd love to team up with the talented contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama. Her unique and vibrant style resonates with me. Collaborating with her would be a fresh start, like embarking on an exciting artistic adventure.

Yayoi Kusama's work is known for its playful and immersive qualities. Her use of patterns, colors, and installations creates a whole new world for viewers to explore. Partnering with her could lead to a fusion of her signature aesthetics with the innovative possibilities of AI art.

What advice or encouragement would you give to aspiring women who are interested in pursuing AI art?

To all the aspiring women interested in pursuing AI art, I want to say: go for it! Your creativity and ideas are valuable in shaping the future of art. Don't be afraid to embrace technology and experiment with AI tools. Start small, learn along the way, and remember that every step counts.
