The WAIA Artist Directory is a meticulously curated showcase of the most talented and inspiring women, non-binary and LGBTQ+ AI artists, celebrating their achievements while fostering opportunities for collaboration and discovery. Reviewed biannually by a committee of esteemed AI artists, this directory serves as a nexus for galleries and brands to connect with artists for unique and exciting projects.

DIRECTORY SELECTION CRITERIA

Artistic Merit

Focusing on aesthetic appeal, emotional impact, and storytelling in the artworks.

Technical Proficiency

Assessing complexity, execution, and technical skills in the artworks.

Originality

Evaluating uniqueness, creativity, and innovation in the artist's work.

Positive Professional Attitude

Taking into account factors like general conduct, positivity, and community interaction. The focus here is on maintaining a respectful and collaborative environment.

OUR IMPACT AND MILESTONES

  • The second round of directory selections, conducted by a distinguished jury including Nicaunties, LeMoon, and Jillian Hobbs, resulted in the addition of 32 talented artists. Chosen from over 120 submissions, the selected artists represent the cutting edge of AI-driven creativity, showcasing diverse voices and perspectives in the WAIA community.

  • The WAIA founder, Izgi Uygur, along with six other WAIA artists—Jenny Dyson, Rotem Goeta, Joy Fennell, Suzannah James, Sofia Jacobi, and Sarah Burkhardt—have been featured in the second issue of TELESCOPE Magazine. These talented artists were selected by Runway from the WAIA Directory.

    Izgi's interview, titled "Balancing Act: Architecture, Anthropocene, and AI” discusses the inception of WAIA, the transformative potential of AI art, and the challenges she faces as an artist.

  • The WAIA Monthly Newsletter delivers a regular digest of AI art news, tips and tricks, events & deadlines, and special prompts to our community on our Patreon page with a subcription.

  • Echoes of Human Connections," the 4th issue of Prompt Magazine, featured WAIA, providing insights into the intersection of AI and human creativity. This issue also included an interview with Izgi Uygur, the founder of WAIA, sharing perspectives on the journey and vision of the organization.

  • Our Directory grew to include a total of 47 artists, underscoring our commitment to creating opportunities. These artists were selected after a diligent review process by our jury, including Niceaunties, Jillian Hobbs and Nicola Higgins.

  • Our first major collaboration with Runway, a leading generative video creation platform, marked a significant milestone for WAIA. The sponsorship of the 'Voyage' themed AI Art Contest provided winners Alsoguppyme, Rebecca Vaughn (talesfromanotherdimension), and Christina Leong (chromelore) with valuable exposure and tools to enhance their artistic endeavors.

    Additionally, Runway offered a 20% discount to the WAIA community and three-month unlimited Runway subscriptions to the contest winners.

  • A significant step forward, the launch of our Directory website marked the beginning of a new era for showcasing talented women and LGBTQ+ AI artists globally.
